Fission-track lab (coming soon)

In the coming months, we will be installing a new fission-track laboratory in the School of the Environment. Outputs will include:

  • Apatite fission-track dating.

  • Zircon fission-track dating.

  • Monazite fission-track dating.

  • Preparation of apatite (U-Th-Sm)/He samples.

  • Preparation of zircon (U-Th-Sm)/He samples.

Peter Hooper
GeoAnalytical Lab

The School of the Environment at WSU Pullman has housed the Peter Hooper GeoAnalytical Lab since 1978. Accessible facilities included at the lab include:

  • Finnigan Neptune Multicollector-ICP-MS

  • Finnigan Element2 ICP-MS 

  • Agilent 7700 ICP-MS

  • ThermoARL XRF

  • JEOL JXA-8500F Field Emission Electron Microprobe (pictured)

RADIOGENIC ISOTOPE &
GEOCHRONOLOGY LABORATORY

The School of the Environment at WSU Pullman houses the Radiogenic Isotope & Geochronology Laboratory. Accessible facilities included at the lab include:

  • Analyte Excite 193-nm ArF Excimer laser ablation system.

  • Thermo Scientific Neptune Plus MC-ICPMS.

  • Thermo Fisher Scientific Element 2 high-resolution ICP-MS.

  • Class 1000 trace metal clean lab for sample preparation.
